To accommodate massive crowds of over 350,000 fans, Verizon recently overhauled its 5G network infrastructure across the 559-acre Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The massive project involved installing 240 specialized 5G mmWave nodes and 219 high-capacity antennas to provide a 400% increase in overall bandwidth. Engineers also strategically deployed 33 specialized small cells at the primary entry gates to ensure instant mobile ticket scanning without digital delays. Thanks to these comprehensive upgrades, the system can now reliably deliver peak download speeds exceeding 1,000 Mbps to keep spectators connected throughout the facility.
