Georgetown Generating Station

Looming deregulation, increasing demand and high peak market pricing has the Electric Utility Industry clamoring to put peak generation plants on line. These plants are typically natural gas fired turbines, and the Georgetown Station Plant has four, 80 megawatt units. Miller-Eads was assigned to coordinate the electrical installation and construction for the first three units. The units were scheduled to be on line within a nine-month time frame, but Miller-Eads was able to complete the assignment in just over six months. The unique part of the project was the assembly of manufactured equipments. The turbines, generators and distribution equipment all arrive with "some assembly required." To facilitate this, Miller-Eads retained the services of an experienced start-up engineer to work with our field personnel through the documentation and assembly process, resulting in a successful, on-time project.
