Miller-Eads was contracted to install four GE 7EA Gas Turbines at an undeveloped area outside Joliet, Illinois. The project included construction of a new switchyard to connect with the 138KV Commonwealth Edison transmission lines. The biggest construction challenge was the intensity of electrical, mechanical and erecting work that was required within a confined space. The site and its relationship to the source fuel and load power lines could have produced significant variables in construction costs and scheduling. The experience and expertise provided by Miller-Eads was a major asset in controlling these variables and bringing the project in on time and on budget.
